Our planet is attacked by a luminous sphere which slowly devours its surface.

Only its poles seem to have been spared by the greed of the monster which, in a short time, ends up wiping out Europe and East Asia.
While the world's population hides in caves or colonizes Alaska, nations organize themselves and build a huge underground base in Siberia.
This becomes the refuge of scientists united in a race against the total annihilation of our world. Among them, Patrick Schimmer, a young French geologist who, without knowing it, will play an important role in the future of humanity.
